Kudos to One of Our Own!
Always a supporter of local non-profits, Chris Bettin bought Red Ball Express tickets and didn’t give them another thought … until he won $5,000! He immediately knew he would give the winnings to Manna’s Head Chef – Seanan Culloty. Seanan and his dog lost everything in a recent house fire. If this isn’t the epitome of our core belief that “Integrity Leads. Sales Follow.,” then we don’t know what is. Way to go Chris!
Fly from Durango to Los Angeles
International Airport (LAX) starting June!
This announcement is very positive news as we continue to see the pandemic recovery at DRO outperform the recovery seen at airports nationwide.
American Airlines will be introducing daily seasonal service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Durango (DRO) in June. American will operate one daily nonstop flight between Durango and Los Angeles beginning June 3, 2021 through August 15, 2021 on a dual-class 70-seat Bombardier CRJ-700 aircraft. The added service will provide passengers at DRO with a 4th daily nonstop destination this summer, opening up more choices for our community, improving access for visitors, and having a strong impact on our regional economy as we continue to recover from the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.

How many steps are there from the lip of the Reflecting Pool into the temple of the Lincoln Memorial and why was that number chosen?

Congratulations to Dean Fagner for being the first to correctly answer the question – and by doing that, he wins a $100 Gift Certificate to East by Southwest!
This Month’s Trivia Contest
February is Black History Month … so let’s focus a bit on Martin Luther King, Jr.
MLK’s life was short, but he changed the world. His relatives went on to continue his work for civil rights with Coretta Scott King, his wife, being a major player. His children MLK, III, Dexter, Yolanda, and Bernice have worked toward the cause as well.
But who is Michael King, Jr and how is he related to Martin Luther King, Jr?
Be the first to email us the correct answer and you’ll win a $100 Gift Certificate to Sunnyside Farms Market.

Friday Durango Grit Gatherings
Start in Downtown Durango!
Feb 19 & 26 and Mar 5 & 12 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm
9th and 10th Streets from Main to Narrow Gauge will be blocked off to traffic and parking on 02/19, 02/26, 03/05, and 03/12 to create an area for people to safely gather in Downtown. Tables, chairs, heaters, and lighting will be brought in to create a space to enjoy take out from a local restaurant and listen to live entertainment. QR codes will be at every table that link you to Downtown restaurants to place your order. Pick up your food and then enjoy a meal in Downtown! BID also encourages you to also stroll around downtown to do some shopping; there will be lists at the tables with information on stores that are open and any specials they might be offering.
Masks are required when you are in downtown and are thus required in the Durango Grit Gathering spaces, except when you are actively eating. Tables will be socially distanced and a limited number of people are allowed inside the areas at one time to help ensure everyone’s safety. Please bring your mask and listen to the volunteers working the entrances.
BID thanks the City of Durango and our friends at Local First for making this happen! We hope to see you in Downtown this Friday, or any of the next three Fridays!
