Amaya was born and raised in Durango. She has also lived in Washington, D.C., Denver, and France, but Durango kept calling her home. She now attends Fort Lewis College and is completing degrees in Business Analytics and Computer Information Systems. At school, she serves on the Financial Allocation Board and the Fort Lewis Economic Association; she is also the Vice President of the Aerospace in Business and Engineering club. Outside of work and school, Amaya enjoys the beautiful landscapes of Southwest Colorado. She loves running, hiking with her mini-longhaired Dachshund, Nordic skiing with her mom, Alpine skiing with friends, and exploring the breathtaking San Juan Mountains.
Amaya met Christina Rinderle when Christina served as mayor of Durango and Amaya served on the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Board. Amaya instantly appreciated Christina’s care for her community and its members. When Amaya realized her passion for Real Estate, she reached out to Christina for an internship and worked her way up to her current position as Special Projects Coordinator for Durango Land and Homes and Vacation Rental Collective.
